The “Inclusive University Conference” organised by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialised Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the British Council in Uzbekistan, Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), and the University of Westminster (UK) addressed a number of critical issues related to the future development of inclusive higher education in Uzbekistan. Participants specifically considered issues related to women’s empowerment, girls’ education, access to education for people with special educational needs and those who represent vulnerable and low-income families. During the conference workshops, participants discussed specific case studies and examples of existing barriers, as well as how they could be dealt with in the short and long term.

The local coordinator of the DECIDE project Sherzod Gulomov and his team from Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi (TUIT) participated in the Conference and presented on the topic “Inclusive Student Support in the example DECIDE project”. His presentation was devoted to the DECIDE Online Platform which has been developed during the implementation of the project where he demonstrated usage of the Platform and how the Platform simplifies the process of acquiring knowledge concerning inclusive education and disabilities in higher educational institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
